Array Spotting Service
Besides providing instruments, we also are set up to offer an array spotting service. This can provide the benefit of thoroughly evaluating our equipment and determining any possible engineering necessary to meet your specific application requirements.
From our experiences with previous customers, we recommend the following guideline in working with us:
- Make sure that the spotting test is representative to what would be used in the project.
- If the spotting routine is significantly different, we urge to do another spotting test to make sure everything is functioning properly. Below is a list of variables that could require more testing:
- Smaller sample volumes (we recommend at least 50ul per sample, smaller volumes are possible but we will need to make sure it will work).
- Different slide types, especially if they have intricate dimensions like spotting pads or microwells.
- More samples - this can greatly increase the time it takes to do a spotting run.
- More slides or significant changes in array patterns - both time and spotting accuracy can be affected by this.
- Sample type - be considerate that different samples (like proteins) have different physical properties that can affect spotting.
- Purchasing tips - for longer projects, we encourage that you purchase your own tips. This will make things more consistent. Sometimes we may use new tips. This can be communicated to you beforehand it but it doesn't necessarily ensure the same result so its best to buy from us a set and use them throughout the course of the project.
Certainly we are excited to collaborate in your research projects and hope this guideline will assist in ensuring that we are successful.
